Daytona Beach, Fla. — Supercross returned to Daytona International Speedway this past Saturday for Round 8 of the 2026 SuperMotocross World Championship, where Ken Roczen delivered another standout performance aboard his #94 Progressive Insurance/Cycle Gear ECSTAR Suzuki, securing a strong third-place finish and adding another Daytona podium to his record.
Roczen, the defending 2025 Daytona winner, launched out of the gate with impressive speed, leading multiple laps of the main event. Despite challenging sand sections that cost him momentum, Roczen maintained his pace and composure to lock down a solid result.
“I’m happy with my riding,” said Roczen. “We made the decision not to go with the paddle tire because I don’t like it. I would choose my tire again, but in a deep sand section like that, I had no forward momentum. I feel like more than 50% of the race I struggled there and left too much time on the track. It was a lonely third in the end, but I’m still happy with my riding. I liked the track — it was nice to have a change of pace. I enjoyed it.”
Pipes Motorsports Group teammate Colt Nichols also posted a competitive ride, finishing 11th overall aboard his #45 Twisted Tea Suzuki presented by Progressive Insurance.
“It was a better day overall,” said Nichols. “I ended up 11th in the main, but I feel like I didn’t really ride that well, so I’m a little frustrated to be honest. I’ll take the result and work on a few things. I’ll try to improve this week and come into Indy feeling better and aiming for a stronger result.”
Team principal Dustin Pipes praised the efforts of both riders while emphasizing the team’s continued push for wins.
“Great night in Daytona. It’s always special getting on the podium at an iconic venue like Daytona. As the defending Daytona Champion, Ken handled the pressure well all day. He led a good portion of the main and secured a solid third-place finish. We’re still hungry for another win and will chase it again in Indianapolis. Colt finished less than a second out of his first top 10 of the season, which I felt was a big step in the right direction and closer to where he knows he belongs.”
The series now moves to Indianapolis, Indiana, for Round 9 of the 2026 SuperMotocross World Championship. Live coverage will air on Peacock, beginning with Race Day Live at 10:00 a.m. PST, followed by the first gate drop at 4:00 p.m. PST.
