The 2025 Pro Motocross Outdoor National Championship series rolled into the Pacific Northwest this past Saturday, drawing thousands of fans who packed the hillsides and lined the fences at the iconic Washougal MX Park.
“Top ten finish for Colt,” said Team Manager Larry Brooks. “He finished 12th in the first moto and 9th in the second for 9th overall. He got great starts, rode consistently, and adapted to the track really well. It was a good day for him.”
Despite battling a UCL ligament tear in his thumb since the season opener, Colt Nichols continues to show determination and resilience. Building off a 15th-place finish at the previous round, Nichols delivered a strong performance in Washougal, proving his grit late in the series.
“Washougal is one of my favorite tracks of the year,” said Nichols. “I got off the gate much better this weekend and that really helped me stay in the mix. I did the best I could with everything considered.”
Unfortunately, the day didn’t go as well for teammate Benoit Paturel. After a decent start in the first moto, a crash in the fourth corner of the opening lap dropped him to last. He fought back to 28th by the checkered flag. The second moto proved even more difficult, with a poor start and continued struggles adapting to the track’s shaded and dusty conditions. Paturel was ultimately unable to finish the race, resulting in a 33rd overall on the day.
“I’m so disappointed,” said Paturel. “I felt good in the morning—bike setup was solid—but I wasn’t able to convert it into results. Time to regroup and focus on the final three rounds.”
Brooks added, “Benoit needs more time learning these American tracks and running up front. We believe he can do it.”
The championship series now enters a three-week break before reconvening at Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, Indiana on August 9, 2025. With only three rounds remaining, every point and position counts as the 2025 Pro Motocross season charges toward its finale.
