DETROIT, Mich. — March 7, 2026 — Round 11 of the 2026 AMA SuperMotocross World Championship Series delivered a historic and momentum shifting night for the Progressive Insurance/Cycle Gear ECSTAR Suzuki team as Ken Roczen captured a convincing victory inside Ford Field and advanced to third in the championship standings, now just 14 points off the lead.
After finishing second in his Heat Race, Roczen charged to the front early in the Main Event aboard his #94 Suzuki RM-Z 450 and controlled the race from the second lap onward, executing flawlessly for the full 20 minutes plus one lap to secure the Detroit win.
“We knew what we had to do,” said Roczen. “Being 31 points down, we had to start executing. It was kind of fun being in that pressure position, and we made it happen tonight. We had a really good day all day. The main event was tricky for sure, but we executed, got a good start, and hung in there. It’s a super amazing win for us. It’s fun to keep these dreams alive and be in that position. I’m just trying to let it sink in — we’re excited to go again next weekend.”
Team Principal Dustin Pipes praised the complete performance from Roczen and highlighted the team’s continued forward progress.
“Great night for the team,” said Pipes. “Ken rode a complete race. He got a great start, moved into the lead on the second lap, and it was smooth sailing from there. Chase and Hunter closed up a bit, but Ken changed his line midway through the race and stretched the gap to nearly seven seconds. It was a great ride and a big win for the team. Colt had the night off, but that doesn’t take away from what Ken did. Colt is coming off an eighth the previous round. The bike is in a great window, and we’re very excited heading to St. Louis.”
Colt Nichols battled through a difficult day to finish 17th overall aboard his #45 Twisted Tea Suzuki presented by Progressive Insurance.
“Detroit was a struggle,” said Nichols. “I felt a little off all day and don’t really have any excuses. I was just on the struggle bus. I crashed on the last lap of the main and got docked for jumping on a red cross flag, so it was just a really rough day. I’m going to wipe it from memory and try again next weekend.”
