Indianapolis, IN — March 7, 2026 — The Progressive Insurance/Cycle Gear ECSTAR Suzuki team delivered an eventful and hardfought night of racing at Round 9 of the 2026 AMA SuperMotocross World Championship Series, hosted inside Lucas Oil Stadium for the second Triple Crown event of the season. Ken Roczen opened the night with a commanding victory in the first main event and secured a resilient 5th overall, while teammate Colt Nichols battled through adversity to finish 17th overall aboard his #45 Twisted Tea Suzuki presented by Progressive Insurance.
Roczen showcased top-tier form throughout qualifying and the opening main, where he executed clean passes and maintained the lead to secure a standout win.
“Indianapolis was gnarly again,” said Roczen. “The track breaks down so much and the Triple Crown here is really intense. We had such an amazing day, and I felt comfortable on the bike all day. The first main was a dream ride—I felt connected and made some great passes to take the win. Then everything went south in the second main with a mistake and a hard crash. Once I checked that everything was okay, I went to work and salvaged a 10th. My last main wasn’t the greatest start, but I brought it home in third. My riding was really good overall, and we’re taking the positives into the offweekend.”
Nichols endured one of the toughest rounds of his season, struggling to find comfort early and facing multiple challenges throughout the night program.
“Honestly it was a pretty horrible day for me,” Nichols said. “I struggled from the jump, and I’m not even sure why. Physically I felt okay, but I just couldn’t get a feel, and it showed. I was on the ground a lot and had bad starts. The team has been working really hard, and I want to deliver better results. There’s a lot of work to do, but we’ll be ready for Birmingham.”
Lead engine technician Dave Dye highlighted the highs and lows of the team’s outing.
“We had some goods and bads,” said Dye. “We won the first main, had trouble in the second, and came back strong in the third for fifth overall. Colt had a crazy day, but he salvaged what he could. We’re looking forward to Birmingham.”
Supercross now enters a brief break before returning on March 21 in Birmingham, Alabama, for Round 10 of the championship. Full coverage will be available live on Peacock TV, beginning with Race Day Live at 10:00 AM PST, followed by the first gate drop at 4:00 PM PST.
