Glendale, Arizona — Round 5 of the 2026 AMA SuperMotocross World Championship delivered an unforgettable night of racing as Ken Roczen powered his #94 Progressive Insurance/Cycle Gear ECSTAR Suzuki to a commanding mainevent victory. The win tightens the championship race, bringing Roczen within just five points of the series lead.
“Glendale has been a hell of a time. We always want to get better, and our riding has been so good over these last few weeks, but we were lacking in some starts. So, we did a bunch of testing this week. It was the first time in a long while. I’m glad that we did — it shows that we want to get better. Starts today are so important. Tonight, we got a good start in the main event and had such great momentum overall. My motorcycle worked great, and we were able to take it all the way to the checkered flag for a phenomenal first place. Part of my family was here, and I think this was my fourth win here. I have to let it sink in on the flight home and enjoy this one,” said Roczen.
Team owner Dustin Pipes praised Roczen’s performance and the team’s momentum at this critical point in the season.
“Really great night for the team. Ken, with the win is big at a really important point in the series. He closed the points gap — I think we are down 5 points now. More importantly, he really rode great; it was a complete win. It was very good to see. Obviously, with the news of Larry being out for an extended period, Ken has been wanting to get a win for him. So, it was good he was able to get that weight off his shoulders and get this win for Larry, because he is someone who’s on our minds and in our prayers.
Jason and Colt also really rode well, but the results won’t show it. First turn wrecks for both guys had them in last. Jason’s times were comparable to the top five, and I think if he hadn’t fallen, that’s where he would have finished. Colt would have been right around the top ten as well. So first for Ken was great, and it’s putting us on a good trajectory for the rest of the season.”
Twisted Tea Suzuki Riders Battle Back After Early Crashes
Both Twisted Tea Suzuki Presented by Progressive Insurance riders were pushed to the back after openinglap incidents in the main event. Jason Anderson fought through the field to finish 11th, while Colt Nichols climbed to 16th.
“Weekend was not the best, but my riding was a lot better in the main event, so that was nice. In the heat race I started like 4th and worked my way up to 3rd place. In the main event I stalled it in the first corner and then worked my way back up to 11th place. So, I think my riding was quite a bit better than where I finished, but we’ll get there,” said Anderson.
Nichols echoed the frustrations of an early crash but noted improvements in his riding.
“Finished in 16th again — not happy about that. I crashed in the first turn with Eli and a few of the other guys, and that sucked. I tried to do everything I could to come back, but the field was pretty spread out at that point. I caught a big group but couldn’t really do anything with it, so it was frustrating. I want to get out of the gate better and put myself in a better position. So, we need to be better out of the gate, but the riding is a lot better.”
