Only four rounds into the 2026 SuperMotocross World Championship, the battle for the title is already intensifying. The series stopped in Houston, Texas this past Saturday for Round 4, marking the first Triple Crown event of the season. One of three Triple Crown rounds on the calendar, the format features three shortened main events with points combined to determine an overall winner.
Ken Roczen delivered a strong performance aboard his #94 Progressive Insurance / Cycle Gear / Ecstar Suzuki, leading the opening main event from start to finish. Roczen’s 1-5-4 finishes across the three mains earned him third overall for the night and a valuable podium result.
Jason Anderson showed continued progress throughout the evening on his #21 Twisted Tea Suzuki presented by Progressive Insurance. Anderson battled at the front in all three main events, including running up front in the final race. His 6-7-5 finishes placed him sixth overall.
Colt Nichols demonstrated improvement all day aboard the #45 Twisted Tea Suzuki presented by Progressive Insurance. Nichols fought near the top ten and posted 13-20-14 finishes, ending the night 16th overall after a challenging second main event.
“I would say overall we had a really good day,” said Roczen. “I was comfortable on the track from press day on, but once the racing started the track got really tricky. I got a holeshot or near-holeshot in the first main and led the whole race, which felt really good. The second main was tougher after a poor start, but I worked my way up to fifth and that put me tied for the lead going into the final main. There was a lot of chaos early in the last race and I made a couple mistakes that dropped me from first to third. It’s tough when the win is right there, but a podium is still something to be happy about. We finished healthy and the championship is looking really good heading into Glendale.”
“My weekend wasn’t bad,” said Anderson. “I feel like my speed is better than what the results show. I fought hard and finished sixth overall, just one point out of fourth. I obviously want to be further up, but we’ll keep working and try to improve next weekend.”
“It was a much better day for me from start to finish, even if the results don’t fully show it,” said Nichols. “Practice was a big improvement and I was running inside the top ten for a while. The first main went okay, but the second main was unfortunate with the crash and stall. The third main I got a better start but didn’t ride how I wanted early on. Overall, I’m in a better place and getting over the sickness I’ve been dealing with, so I’m looking forward to next weekend.”
“Good night in Houston,” said Team Principal Dustin Pipes. “Ken getting back on the podium with a dominant first main win was huge. We were just a couple mistakes away from the overall, but the riding was strong. Jason continues to improve and is consistently putting himself in good positions. Colt had a much better day overall despite the setback in the second main, with improved starts and solid pace. Glendale is up next, a venue that’s been good to us, and we’ll keep pushing forward.”
