The 2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross championship series was in the “Mile High City,” Denver, Colorado, for the 16th round this past Saturday.
“Overall, it was an ok day,” said Team Manager Larry Brooks. “High altitude. I definitely had to work on the motorcycle a little bit to get it to run better, with not much oxygen up here. Colt Nichols finished 14th, and Kyle Chisholm finished 16th; we were missing Ken Roczen this weekend. He injured his ankle on Wednesday practicing. It pretty much finished that ankle off. He had been racing on borrowed time; his ankle was pretty beat up, which was the last straw. It’s just one of those things. I know he will rehab and come back stronger.”
After an MRI Thursday, it was discovered that Ken Roczen had torn a ligament in his ankle, and surgery would be needed. Ken had been battling through a few injuries for the past couple of rounds, even managing to get on the podium while seriously hurt. Roczen currently sits in third for Championship points, with a 12-point gap on fourth with one round to go.
“It’s tough to step away with just two rounds remaining,” said Ken Roczen. “But with the new injury, I need to prioritize long-term health and recovery. I’m proud of what we have accomplished so far this season.”
Colt Nichols finished 14th place aboard his #45 Twisted Tea Suzuki presented by Progressive Insurance. “Night was a struggle,” said Colt Nichols. “Honestly, I just felt like I rode it in and did what I could. It was a very tough night for me. I’ll regroup and get ready for this last one coming up.”
Veteran Kyle Chisholm, riding his #11 Twisted Tea Suzuki presented by Progressive Insurance, finished the day in 16th place for the third consecutive weekend. “Chiz,” in his final year of professional supercross racing, continues to push through challenges.
“Overall, it was an ok day,” said Kyle Chisholm. “The race in Denver is always tricky with elevation. The bikes are down on horsepower because of it. So we have to make changes on the bike to compensate for that, and over the past few years, I feel like we made some good improvements racing at elevation. So we had a pretty good setup coming into this round, and the bike worked really well. I felt really good on the bike all day. In the heat race, I got off to a pretty good start, ran 4th for a little bit, and ended up in 5th place. My breathing became a factor during the main event, and I ended up in 16th place. Got one more race to go and looking forward to finishing strong.”
The team hosted another great group of VIPs. Led by Adam Enticknap, the VIPs toured the rigs, went on track walks, had one-on-one conversations with the riders, and had plenty of photo opportunities.
