Heartbreak struck during the main event this past Saturday in Tampa, Florida. While charging the field in podium position, Ken Roczen collided with a lapped rider, resulting in a crash. Thankfully, Ken quickly got back up and did not suffer any injuries. However, his race bike wasn’t as fortunate; the contact with the lapped rider caused the chain to come off. Unable to resolve the issue, he was forced to call it a night. Despite this setback, Roczen is only 18 points away from first place in the championship standings, and there are still 12 rounds of Supercross left to compete.
On the other side of the Pipes Motorsports Group paddock, the Twisted Tea Suzuki, presented by the Progressive Insurance race team, had a good night. Kyle Chisholm was recognized during the opening ceremonies. In his final year racing professionally, this past round marked the last time the veteran would line up in front of his hometown crowd. The #11 Twisted Tea Suzuki, presented by Progressive Insurance, made a mark in his farewell hometown race with a 15th-place finish. Teammate Colt Nichols also achieved a strong result, finishing in 12th place. The #45 Twisted Tea Suzuki, presented by Progressive Insurance, continues to close the gap to the top ten.
Racing continues this Saturday in Detroit, Michigan, for the sixth round of the 2024 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series. The coverage of the event is live on Peacock TV. It starts with Race Day Live at 6:30 AM PST and ends with racing with the first gate drop at noon PST.
