The 2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series held the fourth round of the championship this past Saturday in Glendale, Arizona. Ken Roczen entered the event with red backgrounds on his #94 Progressive Insurance ECSTAR Suzuki RM-Z 450, as he was leading the points standings in the premier class. The red backgrounds marked a historic first in Pipes Motorsports Group history, and for Suzuki, it was the first time Suzuki had held the points lead in AMA Supercross in ten years.
Round 4 showcased the first Triple Crown race of the year. The Triple Crown format includes three condensed main events, departing from the traditional race day setup. The top 18 qualifying times automatically qualify for the main event, while the remaining participants compete in a last chance qualifier for the final four spots on the starting gate.
It was a busy weekend for Pipes Motorsports Group, racing in the hometown of team partner Dixxon Flannel Co. The team headed to Tempe Friday night for a fun event, with games, beverages, and a special autograph signing from Ken Roczen, Colt Nichols, and Kyle Chisholm at the Nash Powersports booth. To top it off, the Twisted Tea Suzuki team featured one of a kind Dixxon themed SKDA graphics
Roczen got a great start to the day, qualifying 4th overall. Carrying that momentum into the first main, Roczen worked his way up to 4th place, where he finished. In the second main, Ken got the holeshot and continued leading every lap to a dominant first-place finish. Roczen didn’t get the best start in the final main and had to work his way up towards the front. In the final moments of the race, with the podium on the line, Roczen made the pass for 5th place, which secured him 3rd overall. “Last night was some good racing,” said Ken Roczen. “The track was awesome. It got more and more difficult towards the end of the night. I made the pass on Barcia in the last main for the podium. I am stoked to be back on the box. Looking forward to Tampa.” Ken went 4-1-5 for 3rd overall and is now second in the championship, just two points shy of first place.
Colt Nichols is making significant progress as the series progresses. It was a consistent night of racing for #45 Twisted Tea Suzuki, presented by Progressive Insurance. After facing early challenges due to a crash in the final qualifying session, which prevented him from qualifying directly for the main event, Nichols had to compete in the last-chance qualifier.
In LCQ, Colt got a decent start and worked his way into a transfer position. “Glendale was a tough weekend for me,” said Colt Nichols. “I had a big crash in the last qualifying. So it was a little bit of survival mode, but it happens like that sometimes. I fought hard in all three mains. I just need to get out of the gate better. I’m excited for Tampa.” Nichols went 16-16-15 for 16th overall.
Kyle Chisholm had a solid round of racing on his #11 Twisted Tea Suzuki presented by Progressive Insurance. The veteran got off to a good start, qualifying 15th into the main event. “I knew it would be tough, said Kyle Chisholm. “I’m happy with how I qualified; I’m typically a better racer than a qualifier, and for these triple crowns, it comes down to one fast lap. I threw a really good time down in qualifying for 15th which I was happy with. When it came to racing, it was not my best; I didn’t get the starts I needed. My results were not great, but they weren’t terrible. We are in a good spot. I got my hometown race next and I’m really looking forward to that!” Chisholm went 18-18-18 for 18th overall.
Pipes Motorsports Group heads to Tampa, Florida, for the 5th round of the 2025 AMA Monster Energy Supercross series. The first East Coast race of the series is sure to be exciting. Racing starts at 4:00 PM PST. The race coverage will be live on Peacock TV, beginning with Race Day Live coverage at 10:30 AM PST.
