The 2024 World Supercross Championship kicked into high gear with its opening round in Vancouver, Canada, at BC Place stadium. It was an exciting first round of the 2024 WSX series. Fans came out early to get autographs and meet their favorite riders, most of whom had never had the chance to see these riders and supercross so close to home.
Pipes Motorsports Group had a solid opening round, with Ken Roczen finishing second overall, Colt Nichols fourth overall, Kyle Chisholm sixth overall, and Derek Kelly eleventh overall.
Colt Nichols finished just outside the podium but was right there the whole time. He went 5-3-4 for 4th overall and 4th in series points, just 5 points shy of third place.
There was lots of excitement for Kyle Chisholm, who jumped down to the 250cc class. The veteran got great starts all night and put solid races together. He went 8-7-4 for 6th overall.
Derek Kelly, still fresh off an injury and getting back into a rhythm of racing, struggled in the opening round. However, he made a lot of progress and had a commendable day, going 9-10-11 for 11th overall. With more time on the bike and this break in the schedule coming up, there’s a lot of optimism for him this coming round.
HBF Park in Perth, Australia, will host the second & third rounds of the 2024 World Supercross Championship in an exciting two-day doubleheader on the 23rd and 24th of November. For more information, go to https://wsxchampionship.com/events/
