Fans flocked to Crawfordsville, Indiana for the final round of the 2024 Pro Motocross Outdoor Championship Series. Adding to the excitement, #94 Ken Roczen jumped to the lites class on a Suzuki RM-Z 250cc to mix things up for a round. Roczen made a statement in qualifying with the second-fastest lap time. Teammate #11 Kyle Chisholm also had a solid round, securing his spot inside the top 20 for the upcoming Supermotocross rounds. #45 Colt Nichols did not finish the day, still dealing with the repercussions of a crash in the previous round.
Stagnate in points, with little to gain one way or another, #94 Progressive Insurance ECSTAR Suzuki rider Ken Roczen, kept things interesting by lining up in the lites class on a Suzuki RM-Z250cc. Ken made a statement early on with the second fastest qualifying lap. He carried that momentum into the main event with a 9th overall performance.
Still getting his bearings, the newest addition to the team, #45, Colt Nichols, lined up for the Ironman National as he prepares for the upcoming Super motocross rounds. Unfortunately, he crashed the previous round, and as the race day wore on, it became apparent that some lingering effects prohibited him from racing at his full capability. After the first moto, the team determined it was best to call it a day and not line up for the second moto. Nichols did not secure enough points during Supercross and Motocross to qualify directly into the Supermotocross rounds and will have to race the last chance qualifier in all three rounds to make it in.
With the Supermotocross rounds within reach, #11 Kyle Chisholm was determined to secure a guaranteed spot. Despite the pressure, the team’s veteran fought hard and finished 20th overall, securing his spot in the upcoming SMX rounds.
The Supermotocross series enters its second year of existence, and it is promising to be bigger and better. The series will take the top 20 in combined supercross and motocross points, with an invite-only Last Chance Qualifier with two transfer spots. Round 1 of the three-race championship series will take place at zMax Dragway at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, NC, on September 7th. In a unique two-day format, fans will be able to watch practice on Friday and participate in some of the pre-race activities.
The race will be live on PEACOCK TV starting with Race Day Live at 6:30AM PST followed by a Pre-Race show at 11:30PM PST before the first race set to start at 3:00PM PST. The series promises intense competition, with the top riders battling it out for the championship title.
