The 2024 Pro Motocross Outdoor Nationals kicked off in Pala, California, marking the beginning of an exciting season. The winner of the Kickstart Kenny campaign, Chris Powell, of Bailey, Colorado, and his sons had an experience unlike any other, showing up with an empty truck, stopping by the semi and leaving with Ken Roczen’s #94 Progressive Ecstar Suzuki RM-Z 450. The Kickstart for a Cause Campaign donated $25,000 to St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
Twisted Tea H.E.P. Suzuki riders #11 Kyle Chisholm, and #12 Shane McElrath both made the trip to California for the opening round. It was a roller coaster day for the two. Shane McElrath got a great start to the first race of the day but fell in corner two having to come back from last place. Kyle Chisholm was in the first corner crash. His left grip tore in half, and Kyle had to come from the back of the pack. With a terrible first moto for the pair, it was up to the second moto to score points.
It was not the start to the outdoor nationals, Chisholm, McElrath or the team wanted. Fortunately for all, that was round one and we have ten more outdoor nationals to go. Next week’s race, the Hangtown Motocross Classic, takes place Saturday, June 1st in Prairie City, California. Racing is set to begin at 1:00PM PST. The event will be covered live on the Peacock TV App, starting with Race Day Live at 10:00 AM PST. Racing begins with the first gate drop at 1:00 PM PST.
