Ken Roczen podiums in Birmingham

Birmingham, Alabama, home of Protective Stadium, hosted its first supercross for Round 9 of the AMA Monster Energy Supercross. Friday’s heavy rain loomed over the event until the last minute on Saturday.
The track was prepped, covered, and press canceled in anticipation of the heavy rain that came on Friday. Luckily, the worst had passed by Saturday, and the forecast showed no rain for the day. With the sun out, the excitement was evident as the fans arrived early Saturday to line up and enter the Fan Fest.

#94 Ken Roczen

Ken Roczen performed impressively aboard his Progressive Insurance ECSTAR Suzuki RM-Z 450. In the main event, the #94 came around turn one mid-pack after not the best start. He quickly moved his way into the top ten, rounding lap one in 6th place. Ken’s ability to pass in track conditions that are rutted and soft was second to none, and by lap 13, Ken moved into 3rd place. Ken put his team on the podium for the fourth time this season with a 3rd-place podium finish.

#12 Shane McElrath

Shane McElrath had a strong race on his Twisted Tea HEP Suzuki. Racing with a lot of intensity and aggression, he made critical passes during the main event to secure 11th place—the hard work between rounds at the practice track shows in the #12 Suzuki RM-Z 450 results.

#11 Kyle Chisholm

Teammate Kyle Chisholm was off to a good start in the main event before tipping over in a corner during the first lap chaos. Not wanting to waste any more time, the veteran decided to ride it out and not pull into the mechanics area. Racing the entire main event with no front brake, Chisholm salvaged the race with a 17th-place result.
The series heads to Indianapolis, Indiana, at the Lucas Oil Stadium for the 10th round of the AMA Monster Energy Supercross series. The race begins at 4:00 PM PST on Peacock TV
