Roczen 5th in Daytona

Daytona Supercross kicked bike week into high gear, starting the festivities with Round 8 of the AMA Monster Energy Supercross series this past Saturday! Both teams felt at home with Twisted Tea, Suzuki, and Progressive Insurance banners and promotions blanketing Daytona. Pipes Motorsports Group Athletes #94 Ken Roczen, #11 Kyle Chisholm, and #12 Shane McElrath took center stage at the Daytona International Speedway in front of a packed crowd that filled the fence line and again rushed the track following the race.

#94 Ken Roczen

Ken Roczen got the fans on their feet early with a Heat One holeshot before tucking his front end of the bike rounding lap one. Losing a few positions in the process, the #94 Progressive Insurance ECSTAR Suzuki worked his way back into the lead and took the heat one win. In the main event, Ken got a great start into the first corner but lost positions rounding turn two as the inside pack of riders off the start cut to the outside. He quickly regained his momentum, but by now, first through third place put a decent gap on the pack. Ken leaves Daytona with a 5th-place finish. With nine races remaining, Roczen remains in the hunt with 5th place in supercross points.

#11 Kyle Chisholm & #12 Shane McElrath

Twisted Tea HEP Suzuki team had a good day at the office. Kyle Chisholm had one of his best races this year with a 13th-place main event finish. It took work as he had to fight his way into the main event, just missing the transfer position by one place in heat two. Kyle got the job done in the LCQ with 2nd place. The veteran showed his fitness as he continued to push his pace well into the main event. Teammate Shane McElrath transferred straight into the main after a solid performance in a stacked heat. In the main event fighting for 10th he crashed and fell all the way back to last place. Battling back McElrath adds another solid performance with a 14th-place finish in the main.

The series heads to Birmingham, Alabama, a new city to the schedule. Protective Stadium will host the 9th round of the AMA Supercross Series this coming Saturday, and the racing starts at 4:00 PM PST. You can catch all the action live on Peacock TV.
